This time around, I'm in the tool focus group. I'm unfamiliar with both the laser cutter and the vinyl cutter, but interested with them as well. I wanted to do a project involving one of these tools, and after thinking about it, the laser cutter seemed to offer me more of what I was looking for out of the project.
